Introduction
Cameras in cell phones are able to do more than simply take
pictures. They are able to do things such as scan bar codes and even scan the
world in order to create virtual realities (Mohring, 2004).
Current Use
A new technology used in cell phones is that of ‘Face
Recognition’ (Rahman, 2008). This allows the camera to automatically focus on
people’s faces when taking the picture, so that it makes it easier to take a
picture of you and your friends sitting around having a good time.
Security
Often times the cameras on phones do not require a passcode
to use, but looking at previously taken pictures does.
Ethical and Social Implications
Taking pictures isn’t offensive as far as I know.
Future Use
Interactive virtual reality games on your phone (Mohring,
2004).
